Reflection: Thought of the Day

"Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot."

It means to me that if we have a good education but no manners, others will not "open their doors" to you. They would not be willing to help you.

If you have good manners but no educations, people would "open their doors" to you and they will still be willing to teach you and help you if you ask politely.

H1N1

The H1N1 outbreak was dangerous at fist as we did not know how bad it would be. I did not know why it was dangerous, and it was just like common flu.

I later found out that it was dangerous for pragnent, old and young people to get it, and they may die. We almost had an extra one week holiday but they decided not to let us have a extra week of holidays in the end. I do not think they track down the people who have had contact with people who have H1N1 anymore as there are too many.

We now only have to take our temperature twice a week, instead of the original twice a week.

NE show

On Saturday, I went to the national day parade rehearsal.

The parade was interesting and I saw people marching around in smart uniforms carrying flags and guns. They stood in neat rows and marched at the same speed. I do not think I will ever be able to march like that. I think they have gone through a lot of practice to march so smartly.

There were lots of bright and colourful lights for the other performances as well. The performers wore colourful costumes. At the last part of the show, it started raining and everyone got drenched especially the performers.

The fun pack we got had a magazine in it which got wet when it started to rain. The magazine got stuck to the bag and I had a hard time getting it out.

Ancient Greece

Would I like to live in Ancient Greece? I absolutely would not!

Back in Ancient Greece, female were treated badly and were not allowed to vote or own property. They also did not receive education as they did not go to school and they had to stay at home to learn to make cloth and cook.

They were not allowed to own a house and the only way to get to live in one when their father passed away was to live in a male relatives house or to get married and live in the house owned by their husbands.

It was also against the law for women to act and males had to act the female parts of the plays.

Although Ancient Greeks were clever, I would not have liked to live with them!

East Coast Park

During the holidays, my family went to East Coast Park together.

We built sandcastles using special tools bought at the park. They are tools for building walls, stairs, castles and more. It was hot but we had fun.

After playing, we had satay and BBQ chicken wings for dinner. For drinks, we had fresh coconuts. I wonder if the coconuts are from the East Coast Park beach?

Stay At Grandmother's House

During the holidays, I went to stay at my grandmother's house with my sibblings. We stayed there for one night. We arrived at my grandmother's house in the afternoon.

We played there and enjoyed ourselves. We slept in the living room and the next day, my cousins also came. I enjoyed spending time and playing with my cousins and my brother.

I love visiting my grandparents during weekends and I think that people should visit their grandparents often.

Making Kuah Dadar

Have you ever eaten or made Kueh Dadar? Well, I have!

During the school holidays, I made Kueh Dadar with my mother and sister. I was in charge of making the wrap (green in colour), and my sister was in charge of the coconut filling. My mother helped us both.

When we were done, I tried one. I decided that I did not like it, so I did not eat any more.

I like making Kueh Dadar (though I do not like eating it) and I hope to make other treats in the future.
